RAF Manston 31st May 2010 - Our First Show!
Yes, the promotion of GE2 has officially started! Peter and David Southworth attended the former RAF Manston Show. Our main sponsors, Laguna Motorcycles have also been fantatsic and provided us with a specially prepared Triumph which we can use to promote GE2 - and it also made its debut at Manston. Peter had also made a stand to go with the motorcycle and apparently the pair were swamped with enquireis all day.
The weather was magnificent and the display by the Spitfire and the new typhoon just blew your mind.

Well done to both of you! Now can you spot the diffence below??

BMF Show, Detling, Kent. 12-13 June 2010

At this show we were the guest of the Sheppy bikers, what a great bunch of guys and girls, these guys very kindly allowed us to be on there stand at the last minute, we were made very welcome, so again many thanks. The show is an annual event; the weather stayed good however numbers were down but we still had interest in the ride. This was our first opportunity to meet riders from abroad and we started many friendships.

Biggin Hill Air Show. 25-26 June 2010

Well this was the first of the big shows, as air shows go, you don’t get much bigger. We again shared a stand with the RBLR, the weather was just blinding, and the sunscreen was out in force.

We were placed in the RAF compound where we were able to speak with serving RAF personnel about the trip. I had the opportunity to go inside the BBMF Lancaster, as you may have read my dad was a pilot in WWII, so this was a fantastic trip to see inside one of these magnificent machines. I must say, I did cry, I felt so proud to be there and if anything made my resolve to make our trip even more successful for the charities.

Our voices were horse by the end of the weekend, we never stopped talking, and being at the base from which many of the escapers originally flew from made it a superb weekend.

Hythe Festival. Kent. 3 July 2010

This was a village festival, which I was very proud to take part in, I was able to ride with my friends at the RBLR, we rode through the town to great applause and yes it was a time to show off the Triumph. I displayed the boards and Scrambler in the local park, where we were joined by local vintage car enthusiasts. We saw many interesting vintage and military vehicles, which made up a wonderful display. The local town really took us to heart.

Kent County Show, Detling, Kent. 16-18 July 2010

This was our local county show, and we had the pleasure to be on our sponsors stand of Laguna Motorcycles, what a fantastic show, not only did we meet thousands of locals we had the pleasure of working with the staff of Lagunas and we were made so welcome. They showed great enthusiasm for the ride and for us it was a time to show our sponsors how we can display our ride.

We met the great White Helmets display team and have been invited to take photos with the team for 2011. Again the weather was good; my tan has definitely improved so this ride is good for our health as well.

War and Peace Show, Paddock Wood, Kent. 21-25 July 2010

Well this was a big one; the biggest military show in Europe, we were on the Help for Heroes stand. We had a fantastic site and met so many veterans and serving personnel, it made us feel very humble to meet such brave people and the stories we heard and the thanks we received made us feel more determined than ever to succeed in our venture.

We also met bikers who offered advice on the trip, which we have since followed up and proved very useful. The weather was hot, very hot and the dust, after having a beer in the Normandy 44 living history area, we were just covered, but great fun. The whole show was just fantastic, the music and the personalities have a look at the photos.

British Superbike, Brands Hatch. 7-8 August 2010

We again had the pleasure to be on display with Laguna motorcycles and some new friends from Point to Point, a charity motorcycle ride by serving personal from the RAF and Navy. What a privilege it was to meet them, we both raised donations towards our charities from the enthusiastic biker crowd.

So much interest was shown towards the ride and we had the pleasure to meet our new PR member to the team the stunning Louise Stewart.

Military Mayhem, Wrotham, Kent. 21-22 August 2010

This is a smaller show than War and Peace, however what it lacks in size it makes up for in the personal touch. We were made to feel so welcome by it seemed every person at the show, there were hundreds of vehicles being displayed. The arena was constantly busy with demonstrations and shows, we had an excellent pitch and again the interest shown was superb. What I can say is the pyrotechnic guys, are just fantastic, we had great fun, please go if you have the chance in 2011.

Military Oddessy, Detling, Kent. 28-30 August 2010

Now this show is just something else, your talking to a roman soldier, when a druid comes up and ask another question while a spartan is taking photos, then of course King Arthur walks by. It’s a show of history in which fantastic characters displaying all times of military turn up. Not only do they set up villages but also they show how history changed our current world, it is so interesting. It is fun and that is what living history should be, it is well worth a day out the kids love it and so do the adults.

LAGUNAS Garden of England "Rat Run". 17-19 September 2010

I was invited to lead a ride for the RAT pack, and what a privilege it was, I rode the Scrambler out on a 150 mile round trip of Kent. We had wonderful weather for the ride, which was very enjoyable, riding the scrambler through the Kent countryside it felt just perfect; just what it was made for. I had the privilege to meet new friends from the Triumph RAT pack and give a talk on the ride during the evening dinner hosted by our sponsors Laguna motorcycles. We stayed at the RAMADA, Maidstone for the night and I must say I enjoyed a very welcome swim after the ride.

British Superbike, Silverstone. 24-25 September 2010

Well all I can say is I now know what cold is, oh the Friday night was freezing, but the atmosphere over the weekend made up for it. We nearly had the whole team on the stand, we had a fantastic time, British bikers are the best in the world, we had non stop conversations all day and by the end of the weekend raised a considerable amount towards the charities. We had a fantastic location and the rain held off until the last knockings on the Sunday, the racing was superb and to make even better my guy Michael RUTTER won!

We also had two green Scramblers on show, which certainly caught people’s attention.

This was really the last big show of the year, so now starts the letter writing season, it’s been a wonderful year so far and now we are down to just eight months before we leave. The diets are in full swing and the physical fitness, I know it’s only 3800 miles but we all need to be ready and time soon goes by.

So please keep in touch and thankyou for those who have donated so far, we have over £4000, towards our goal of £10,000 so we are doing well.
