GE2 Team meet Colin
30th October 2010
Colin Kirby-Green, whose father and step-father were both participants in the Great Escape, invited the team to his house in Essex so that he could meet us all. The weather was kind to us, especially as some of us had many miles to travel.
Having arrived, we were struggling ot find Colin's house when we were greeted by a passing resident, who asked us if we were “The Great Escape” team and kindly showed us to where Colin lived! Wow, the word is getting around. What a beautiful location Colin lives in, with views over the estuary and lots of green. A perfect location for an artist to live.
Then, we met up with Louise, our PR Guru and the team from Red Banana Productions, Dave & Rick, who are making the documentary. We had a quick introduction with Colin, before we did our first filming. This was of us arriving at Colin’s, so out we went and rode back down the road and into the driveway, with a little of us dismounting and taking our helmets off. Make up took a while – especially for some members of the team, eh Spud!
We then settled down and had our meeting in Colin's front room with all of the camera’s and lighting. We started by introducing ourselves with a little bit about ourselves, as did Colin. Spud then gave everyone an update and it is amazing how the event has progressed. We have raised £4636.75 to date.Colin laid on a lovely buffet lunch for us, which, after the long ride, we were ready for!
We later watched a brand new, never seen by the public, documentary on Roger Bushell. Well, we watched as much as we could with the time available. Very impressive so watch it if you have the opportunity.
I still have a laugh at Muddy, who actually made friends with Colin’s goose. The goose had been very vocal in its pen when we arrived, being a typcal goose - better than a guard dog. But fearless Muddy had him quiet and even talking to him. The goose even gave him a friendly peck.
